"Fireside Chat – How Green Is Your Company…and How Do You Tell Your Story?" - 2012 ACS Chemical Entrepreneurship Series Webinar

July 2012

Judy moderated an ACS Chemical Entrepreneurship Series Webinar on July 19, 2012 titled "Fireside Chat – How Green Is Your Company…and How Do You Tell Your Story?"  Dr. Robert Peoples of the American Chemical Soceity Green Chemistry Institute, and Dr. Karen Buechler of ALD NanoSolutions, were the webinar panelists.  Watch the recorded webinar for more on:

  • What “green” really means for your business…and not just from a “white washing” or  “marketing” perspective!
  • Does “being green” have to be an outward and “in your face” part of your value proposition. Or is it COST and PERFORMANCE that really resonates with customers…not “GREEN”!
  • Does where you play in the value chain matter in “being green”? Or IS IT MARKET DEPENDENT?

Lens of the Market workshop at CSP CCI, University of Minnesota

July 2012

Judy and her partner Joseph Steig of NCIIA visited the Phase I CCI at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, "Center for Sustainable Polymers (CSP)" to facilitate a Lens of the Market workshop.  A total of 15 graduate students, post docs and faculty from the Center participated.

Centers for Chemical Innovation or CCIs are funded through the National Science Foundation.

Intersection - The Planet, Careers, STEM and YOU

May 31, 2012

Judy visted Rutgers University - her alma mater - at the end of May and presented "Intersection - The Planet, Careers, STEM and YOU" to an audience of chemistry and engineering graduate students and faculty.  Judy's stressed that scientific solutions are needed to address major global issues, and that scientists and engineers are the key to these solutions!  Innovation is needed, meaning that the results of scientific research need to be translated to practical use and deployed effectively as solutions to market needs.

"Fireside Chat with Entrepreneurs – The Challenges of Scaling a Global Biomaterials Supply Chain" - 2012 ACS Chemical Entrepreneurship Series Webinar

May 2012

Judy moderated an ACS Chemical Entrepreneurship Series Webinar on May 3, 2012 titled "Fireside Chat with Entrepreneurs – The Challenges of Scaling a Global Biomaterials Supply Chain".  Dr. Sharon Feng of Bayer MaterialScience, and Joseph Steig of Natural Composites Inc., were the webinar panelists.  Watch the recorded webinar for more on:

  • Why are bio-based materials important and what are they?
  • How is the supply chain for bio-based materials defined?
  • What are the forces governing it?
  • And what are the challenges facing those technologies that need to scale using bio based materials?
